Sharona Franklin (b. 1987) is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist, writer, designer, consultant and advocate. Working from lived experience of physical, mental health, and cognitive disabilities, her practice explores radical therapies, cybernetic craft, bio-citizenship, the pharmaco-industrial complex, and social interdependence.
Franklin’s methodologies advance access through a plurality of senses, while also building social disability communities online through @disabled_personals, and former communities, @star_seeded, @paid.technologies and @hot.crip.
Franklin is an ambassador for the National Arthritis Society and is currently working on her first European solo exhibition at La Maison de Rendez-Vous (Brussels, BE), a second US solo exhibition at the MIT List Centre (Boston, MA), as well as consulting with Remai Modern (Saskatoon, SK) to create Relaxed Tours, accessible gallery tours for institutional art spaces.
